HOW TO CHECK TIRE PRESSURE
Use a tire pressure gauge to check the current air pressure inside your tires. Optionally, most gas stations and auto service centers have public tire pressure gauges available for free or for a small fee. Not sure how to use a tire pressure gauge? Just follow these steps:
#1
Check your tires when they are “cold” — meaning before driving or at least three hours after having driven.
#2
Unscrew the cap on your tire’s valve stem. Make sure to put the caps in a safe place so you don't lose them!
#3
Attach the tire pressure gauge to the open valve stem. It is normal to hear air escaping while connecting the gauge but if air continues try resetting the gauge.
#4
Read the gauge for the tire’s current air pressure and determine if it is at the appropriate PSI (the recommended PSI will be listed either inside the driver-side door jamb or in your owner’s manual).
#5
If the tire is under-inflated, use an air compressor to inflate the tire to the correct PSI—DO NOT inflate the tire past the PSI recommended by the vehicle manufacturer and NEVER exceed the maximum inflation pressure of the tire.
#6
If the tire is overinflated, release air through the valve stem until the PSI reads at the correct level.
#7
Repeat the previous steps as necessary until each tire is set to the correct tire pressure.
